The Five Types in Human Design

Your type is the first and most important thing to know about your Human Design. It describes the kind of energy you carry, how your aura interacts with the world, and, crucially, your Strategy: the simplest, most reliable way for you to make decisions and move through life with less resistance.

There are five types. Everyone is one of them, determined entirely by which centers and channels are defined in your chart (not by personality).

Energy types vs. non-energy types#

The deepest divide between the types is whether the Sacral center is defined:

• Sacral types (Generators and Manifesting Generators) have a defined Sacral: a reliable, renewable engine of life-force energy. They're built to do work they love and to respond.
• Non-Sacral types (Manifestors, Projectors, Reflectors) do not have this consistent engine. They are not designed to work the same long, sustained hours, and they thrive by managing their energy differently.

Signature and Not-Self theme#

Each type has a signature, the feeling you get when you're living in alignment with your Strategy, and a not-self theme: the emotional signal that you've drifted off course. These are your built-in feedback system.
